George Gordon First Nation Membership and all those affected by the history of Gordon Student Residence:
On Tuesday November 9, 2021 Aecom will return to GGFN and begin the process of searching the land for unmarked graves. The day will begin with a morning pipe ceremony and carry in to clearing sites. From November 10 to 19 their presence will be in the community, we ask that you respect their space and allow them to do their work uninterrupted
Please understand that phase one of the search is a lengthy process and results will not be know for a period of time, when Aecom has completed their work they will need to analyze their data and will forward any findings back in a timely manner.
We understand that this may be an emotional time for many and supports will be available in the community. The old gym will be open on Tuesday morning if anyone wishes to come sit and be in the company of your peers.
Please note that Covid-19 protocols are in place and that if attending you are not sick, wear a mask and provide your vaccination cards on request.
