Service Coordinator (Jordan’s Principle) – Opportunity

George Gordon First Nation (GGFN) is seeking applications for a Jordan’s Principal Service Coordinator. Under the direction of the Director Of Operations, the coordinator will provide service coordination and planning in cooperation with other agencies that is directly related to children and families in need.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Identifying children and families with unmet needs
• Relationship building and building networks
• Knowing and reaching out to other programs and services to support the family.
• Ensuring that children are receiving safe, culturally appropriate care.
• Submitting requests with supporting documentation to Jordans principal.
• Managing funds provided to Jordans Principal for approved service supports.
• Working with other service coordinators to identify gaps and avoid duplication of services.
• Follow up with families and assess all needs of a child and ensure their needs have been met.

Qualifications:

• University degree or college diploma (two year minimum) in a field related to Human Services, Education or Social Work. Or other combinations of skills , education and experience are relevant and may be considered.
• Minimum of one-year direct service experience with children and families.
• Experience working with indigenous people, organizations, and communities.
• Experience supporting indigenous youth and or community, and understanding of indigenous ways of knowing, Learning, Being, and Doing.
• Knowledge and understanding of Jordan’s Principal.
• Excellent Communication with strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and community relations skills.
• Ability to identify, source and access community supports and resources.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act, CFS Act, Vulnerable Persons Legislations etc.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites.
• Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• CPIC and vulnerable sector check required.
