Store Manager (4 Claw Retail Ltd.) – Opportunity

George Gordon First Nation is proud to be the owner of 4 Claw Retail Ltd. located in the heart of the Nation. Built and launched in 2013, the store offers cooked, fresh, frozen, and dry food goods and full-service fuel of premium, unleaded and diesel. Members and visitors can purchase groceries, drinks, snacks, ice cream, hardware, automotive, and household goods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, oversee, and evaluate the day-to-day operations of establishments engaged in retail store and restaurant sales
  • Utilize research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes, and effect of competitors’ operations on sales
  • Determine merchandise to be sold, and implement price and credit policies
  • Source, build relationships, and negotiate with vendors when necessary to procure merchandise for resale
  • Proactively submit merchandise orders through vendors to meet consumer demands
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance profitability
  • Evaluate and improve customer service and respond to customer requests and issues
  • Plan budgets, authorize expenditures, and monitor revenues for financial performance
  • Create monthly transaction reports for and work one-on-one with the accountant to ensure financial records are kept and accurately recorded
  • Process bank deposits, invoices, cheques and payroll for 16+ staff
  • Address staffing requirements, including the hiring, scheduling, development, and retention of staff
  • Assign duties, manage, and supervise staff
  • Motivating and engaging staff to meet excellent customer service standards
  • Maintain a secure filing system for staff and vendor files
  • Be the point of sales (POS) system lead and troubleshoot when difficulties occur
  • Adhere to policies, internal controls, audit standards, and regulatory compliance requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • A university or college diploma in business administration, or another related field would be beneficial
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of hands-on experience in a retail or restaurant sales environment, with increasing levels of management responsibility preferred
  • This role involves significant financial responsibility and requires a high level of integrity and ethical conduct
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, if necessary, during staff shortfalls
  • A valid Saskatchewan class five (5) driver’s license
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
