Youth Worker – Employment Opportunity

Reporting to the Wellness Coordinator the Youth Worker is responsible in the development and delivery of family wellness programs, which includes but is not limited to organizing effective sport, culture and recreation programming for all youth and their families of the GGFN.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver youth wellness programs, projects and activities including existing coordination of current programs
• Network and create partnerships with various departments of George Gordon First Nation community resources, and other support services
• Develop activity budgets
• Prepare reports, and maintain an accurate data system
• Incident reports as required
• Proposal and grant development to secure alternative funding sources
• Able and willing to participate in continuous training and personal development
• Provide transportation and youth supervision
• Other assigned duties as required

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12
• Diploma or Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Youth Care, Addictions, and/or Community Development or related work experience
• Computer skills
• Knowledge of the GGFN sports, culture and recreation program objectives and community values
• Demonstrating skills in budgeting and proposal development
• Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to establish a working relationship with community members, and other resources
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
• Confident and able to deliver presentations to various age groups
• Knowledge in the First Nation Culture, Traditions and Practices.
• CPIC and Vulnerable sector to be completed annually.
