Under the direction of the Director of Operations the Prevention Program Supervisor (PPS) will work within the community to develop realistic strategic prevention plans, recognizing the needs of each individual. This PPS will continually monitor and report on community concerns to ensure program objectives are aligned with needs. The PPS will oversee all functions of the program including the provision of community-based education and referrals, the supervision and guidance of program prevention workers and assisting with the creation of the annual budget. This individual with regularly liaise with members of the community, various department heads and other community-based organizations in order to ensure effective delivery of the prevention program in accordance with established policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Social Work (BSW or BISW) OR Certificate in Social Work (CSW or CISW) or studies in other related fields and five years experience working with children and families.
• Knowledge of Cree and Saulteaux culture and language is an asset, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to utilize computer software and hardware programs.
• Ability to make decisions using sound judgment in difficult or ambiguous situations.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills ability to maintain accurate and current information and documentation relating to case files.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations people, the cultures, communities, service agencies and political structures.
• Knowledge of provincial and federal structures including legislation, policies and programs relevant to First Nations people.

• Demonstrated professional integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.
• A Valid class 5 driver’s licence, CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide management for the operations of the Prevention Program.
• Coordinate the development, implementation and provision of educational and prevention programs including assessments, and necessary referrals within the community.
• Provide on-going monitoring of programs and services provided by the prevention program.
• Review all reports submitted and provide assessment and necessary recommendations.
• Ensure the program’s standard of service is upheld at all times.
• Assist in the creation and interpretation of policies and standards governing the program’s mandate.
• Ensure delivery of the program is consistent and adheres to established policies and applicable legislation.
• Act as a resource regarding information pertaining to the prevention program, fielding inquiries, questions and concerns.
• Provide guidance and leadership to prevention program employees, ensuring work adheres to the established mission, vision and guidelines.
• Collaborate with community-based organizations in order to provide additional resources for clients.
• Continually monitor and provide report on community need to ensure alignment of program objectives with identified need.
• Assist in the development of strategic prevention plan, in the creation and monitoring of the program’s annual budget.
• Plan, organize and direct the work of staff employed in the preventive program.
• Other duties to be assigned as required.
