Under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Coordinator the Animal Control Officer will aid in maintaining public safety by enforcing animal licensing laws. The Animal Control Officer may also provide educational seminars to the community on topics such as animal welfare and animal-related laws. This position is part-time and does require the successful candidate to be on-call and work irregular hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Experience working with all types of animals.
- A strong understanding of First Nation issues and community
- Ability to work under physical and mental strain.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enforcing GGFN licensing laws and regulations of that are applicable to the animal control program, this includes but is not limited to:
- Enforce regulations concerning the treatment of domestic animals.
- Captures and impound unlicensed, stray, sick and uncontrolled animals, and deal with them as per regulations.
- Supplies food, water, and personal care to detained animals.
- Investigates complaints of unruly animal behaviour.
- Examine dog licenses for validity and issues warnings to owners if required.
- Capture injured animals and get them the appropriate medical treatment.
- Maintain file of number for all animals.
