The Office of the Chief is the main point of contact for George Gordon First Nation’s governing body, the Chief and Council. The Office of the Chief strives to maintain positive working relationships with all Nation departments, municipal, federal, provincial, international governments, our neighboring First Nations, partners and other external stakeholders.

Chief and Council Governance Priorities:

  • Empowerment of George Gordon First Nation’s people – moving them away from dependency;
  • Representing the Nation at all levels of Governance;
  • Creating a governance structure towards Sovereignty and away from the Indian Act;
  • Financial Transparency and Accountability;
  • Long-term Community Planning in Land Use, Health, Housing and Infrastructure;
  • Life Long Learning and Education as a Primary Value amongst Membership;
  • Traditional Cree & Saulteaux Culture Language and Ceremony revival
