The Chief and Council of George Gordon First Nation recognizes that the prevalence of illegal drugs and substance abuse. increases the number of deaths, motor vehicle accidents. domestic violence and more importantly child neglect and abuse within our families.
There has been an increase in overdoses over the last few years, that has resulted in loss of lives in our Home community and the Urban centres in which our Citizens reside. The drugs being sold in our Home community are suspected to be narcotics, mainly meth and fentanyl.
The Community Patrol has identified a number of homes within the Home Community, they observe and monitor those suspected homes and report back to the RCMP. As a community, we need to hold the drug dealers accountable that are selling these life-threatening drugs to the people of our Nation. If you know someone selling illegal or prescription drugs in our community, please report them to the RCMP (306) 835-5200, reports can be made anonymously.
GGFN Leadership is working to address the current situation and to find solutions to combat the drug crisis we are faced with. In keeping our First Nation safe, we will begin implementing & enforcing a ‘Compliance Order’ on homes suspected of drugs, selling drugs, or dealing in drugs and substance abuse.
