Finance Manager – Opportunity

The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the GGFN community. This role involves managing financial planning, budgeting, and analysis to support the community’s goals. The Finance Manager oversees accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with financial regulations, and ensures transparency and accountability in all financial matters. By working closely with the Director of Operations and HR Manager, the Finance Manager helps align financial strategies with overall organizational objectives, providing a stable foundation for the community’s growth and development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
• Develop financial strategies to support long-term goals.
• Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Provide, on a regular basis, financial reports to senior management and Chief and Council.

2. Budget Management:
• Develop and maintain budgeting process for the organization.
• Provide departmental support in the development and management of budget.
• Prepare and manage annual budgets in a timely manner.
• Monitor and report on budget variances.
• Ensure all departments adhere to budgetary constraints and financial procedures.

3. Accounting and Financial Reporting:
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements.
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure timely management of accounts payable and receivables.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger.

4. Cash Flow Management:
• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity.
• Optimize cash management strategies.
• Coordinate financing and debt management activities.

5. Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Implement and monitor internal controls.
• Conduct regular internal audits to maintain compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
• Proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct internal audits, and to support the auditing process.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• High level of integrity and ethical standards.
